Zimbabwe

Located at the base of the Chimanimani Mountains within the Chimanimani National Park on the eastern border of Zimbabwe, this Outward Bound school has worked hard to serve as a conduit for positive change in a country recently fraught with political and economic turmoil, and now proceeding positively under the leadership of a coalition government. While there are no programs offered to the general public, they work with a spectrum of Zimbabweans, including school children and corporate managers. However the centre is open to anyone. Outward Bound Zimbabwe has also become the leading expert in outdoor education in this region and it now offers wilderness search and rescue courses.

Students on an Outward Bound Zimbabwe course can spend three to 20 days exploring the true wilds of Eastern Zimbabwe, where they might see the occasional leopard, enjoy high mountain views and spectacular waterfalls. One unique activity has been dubbed the "Temple of Doom", a long traverse through a huge cleft in a rock face. The name comes from a couple of house-sized boulders wedged above the students' heads as they walk through.
