USA Wilderness

Outward Bound Wilderness, one of the five divisions of Outward Bound USA, was created through the consolidation of three pre-existing US-based wilderness schools formally known as Outward Bound West, Voyageur Outward Bound School and Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in 2005.

Outward Bound Wilderness offers over 650 wilderness courses throughout the year that emphasize personal growth through challenge and experience. For over 40 years, adventures have focused on inspiring responsibility, teamwork, confidence, compassion, and environmental and community stewardship.

Wilderness expeditions range in length from 4 days to 3 months in length and are offered across the US and beyond. The nearly 7,000 teens, adults and families that attend Outward Bound Wilderness every year choose from a variety of activities including sailing, backpacking, mountaineering, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, dog sledding, snowboarding, kayaking and canoeing.
