The Outward Bound schools in the United Kingdom have used the mountains and sea as classrooms for over a million young people since 1942. The Outward Bound United Kingdom Trust believes that teamwork, endeavor and courage are crucial skills for people to learn in order to make the most of their lives. It also believes strongly that young people should have the opportunity to participate in Outward Bound programs regardless of their economic circumstances. As a result, the Trust has developed a generous bursary program that serves about 18,000 young people every year.
OB UK offers programs in Scotland (Loch Eil), Wales (Aberdovey), and two centers in England (the Lake District). Courses range from 1-17 days and include anything from sailing the Welsh coast to climbing Ben Nevis in the Winter to scaling a ropes course with teammates. They offer certification courses for guides, professional development programs for corporate groups, the classic Outward Bound Course, global programs, and much more.
