Malaysia's Outward Bound School in Lumut has a proud history. It was the first centre established outside the United Kingdom.
Outward Bound Lumut, set on the western coast of peninsular Malaysia, has Pangkor Island 3 km to the west and the Sembilan (nine) Islands 10 km to the south, all featuring rainforests and mountains. The school offers courses from three to 25 days that include either a sea expedition (by whaler, kayak or raft) or a land expedition (solo camping, rock climbing, rappelling, orienteering, trekking and rope course activities). The popularity of these classic courses remains high, a testament to the original vision of Outward Bound.
From it's beginning on 5 June 1955, this school has sought to design programs that support and inspire good communications within the Malaysian multi-racial society of Malays, Chinese, Indians, Eurasians and others. They are also able to reach out to younger children with shorter courses that fit children's developmental needs.
